Welcome Baby Liam!

Welcome baby Liam!
Our baby boy was born September 12th at 4:08 a.m. He weighed 7.15 lbs and was 19 inches long. Only 3.5 hours of labor! No time for an epidural. I never thought I would do an all natural birth! So glad that part is over and now we get to enjoy our sweet bundle of joy.  Here are some of my favorite pictures I took of this sweet guy over the last few weeks!  I cannot believe he is already 3.5 weeks old!  Wow time flies.

Grilled Pizza on the BBQ - SO YUMMY!!

Grilled Pizza is my new obsession!  It is SO YUMMY!!  You can find a tutorial on how to do it on Our Best Bites here:  http://www.ourbestbites.com/2009/06/tutorial-bbq-grilled-pizza/.

My favorite combination so far is definitely the chicken Alfredo pizza.  I put guiltless Alfredo sauce, recipe found here: http://www.ourbestbites.com/2008/08/guiltless-alfredo-sauce/,  grilled chicken pieces, spinach, and mushrooms on the pizza.  This last time I made it I used half whole wheat flour in the pizza dough and it turned out great.  Next time I will try using all whole wheat flour.  I used the recipe they have on their site for the dough as well, http://www.ourbestbites.com/2008/04/breadsticks-and-pizza-dough/.

You should try it.  I PROMISE you will love it!

Cradle Refinishing Project

Before Eli was born, over 2 years ago, I made new bumper pads and sheet for the baby cradle.  With this baby I was just ready to get rid of the cradle because it is a pain to store, etc.  However, I decided to keep it and do some updating.  I decided to refinish it in a white color.  It turned out a little too white so I distressed the edges and glazed it with a walnut stain.  I love the finished product and am glad that I decided to keep it!

First Day of Pre-K!

Emma missed the cut off for kindergarten this year.  Even though she is SO ready for school she can't go.  :(  We decided to put her in a Pre-K program this year and she is loving it!  She loves going to school and being independent.  My baby girl is growing up.  She looks so old in this picture!

Chore Chart/Weekly Allowance

Emma has wanted a "chore chart" for some time now.  I have also wanted to make a chore chart and implement weekly allowance but time just slips away on all those little things you want to do.  We finally got around to making one.  I let her help me decide which chores we would add to the chart.  She was already doing a lot of them so this will be a fun way for her to keep track of them, earn an allowance, and do new chores!  I made it on my computer and printed it on card stock.  I stuck it in a plastic sleeve and attached a dry erase marker to mark off each chore when it is done.  She loves to mark them off and is very excited about her chores.  There are some chores on there that she will do just once a week and some open slots if we have chores we want to add certain weeks.  She already knows what she is saving her allowance for, a FurReal GoGo My Walkin' Pup.   I will make one for Eli that includes putting shoes away, putting toys away, dirty clothes in bin, etc.  He want a sheet to mark off too!  It is amazing how much kids want to help and be independent.

Pocatello, ID

Our first stop on our second cross country road trip for the Summer was Grandma's house in Idaho.  My sister was there as well with her kids and these kids played and played and played.  My mom loves entertaining the kids with all sorts of crafts, games, and activities.  One of the highlights was the slip-n-slide.  I captured some great pictures of the kids going down the slide with wildly crazy funny faces.  Click on the pictures to see them bigger.

 Grandma with the grand kids.
The kids with great grandma and grandpa.  When we brought the kids over to visit my grandparents they were so happy to see their great grandchildren and just loved having them in their home.  It was fun to watch the smiles the kids brought to my grandparents faces.

Kill Devil Hills, NC and other East Coast Adventures

In May we drove to the East Coast and stayed at a beach house with Luke's brother and family for about 5 days.  It was SO MUCH FUN!!  I only went to the beach a handful of times as a child and don't have fond memories of doing so.  All I can remember about the beach was it being cold and having yucky sand in my hair and mouth.  Not good memories.  However, when we went in May it was polar opposite from what I remember.  It was warm and so much fun!  The kids loved playing on the beach and could have played forever!  Emma loved running along the surf and Eli loved building sand castles.  For the first couple of days Eli wanted nothing to do with the water but by about day three he loved walking in the surf but had to be holding mommies hand at all times or he got too nervous.

We left North Carolina and then drove to Williamsburg, VA where Luke went to school at William and Mary.  We walked around the campus a bit and then headed on on way.  Talk about a beautiful campus!  We then drove up to Vienna, VA where Luke's brother and family live.  We stayed there for a few days and went into Washington DC on two different days visiting the National Zoo, White House, several different monuments and museums.  It was such a fun family vacation and was nice spending time with family that we had not seen for quite a while.  We can't wait to go back!
